Carnaby's Cockatoo Walk
This 1.5km walk trail provides the perfect opportunity to view Carnaby's Black Cockatoo. The birds can be viewed in artificial nests along the trail.
Carnaby’s Black-Cockatoo is endemic in the south-west of Western Australia. It is a large, dull black cockatoo and one of Australia’s five black cockatoo species. The population of this cockatoo has declined because of habitat degradation. Trees with suitable breeding hollows are rapidly being cleared and are in short supply.
These nests have been placed in the trees to provide alternative habitats for the birds which are declining in numbers due to habitat degradation.
The trail is a Grade 2 and mainly flat terrain.
