The proposed Grevillea and Wandoo Wind Farms are key to Western Australia's energy transition, aiming to contribute to both state and national renewable energy targets. If approved, these projects would harness wind power to help reduce reliance on fossil fuels and enhance energy security for future generations.
These projects are essential in the race toward decarbonisation and a high priority for the State.
While decisions on their development have been made at higher levels, the Shire’s role is to bring our community and developers Green Wind Renewables together to ensure open communication, mutual understanding, and local benefits.
Delivering Benefits for Our Community
We understand that some community members may have questions and concerns about this new project. However, the improved infrastructure, local job creation, and broader economic benefits will positively impact the entire Shire. Both the Wandoo and Grevillea wind farms are set to bring substantial advantages to the Shire of Victoria Plains:
- Economic Opportunities
- The projects will indicatively create 300 jobs during the peak construction phase and regular fulltime team 10-20 for the day-to-day running of the wind farm. Scheduled maintenance throughout the year can cause this to increase to 30-40 at various times throughout the year. Local businesses and service providers will benefit from increased demand for goods and services.

- Road upgrades and enhancements to power transmission networks will leave lasting improvements for the region.

Green Wind’s Community Information Sessions
To ensure everyone has access to accurate information and the opportunity to discuss these projects, Green Wind Renewables will be hosting community sessions from February 2025. These sessions are an important opportunity to foster understanding and dialogue between the developers and the community.
