Mobile Water Tank Drafting
The Shire has successfully secured funding from the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation through their Community Water Supplies Program. This project is to be able to undertake the drafting and modelling stage for a mobile water tank to be designed that can be built into an existing Shire truck and/or trailer.
This water tank will be capable of holding up to 2,500 litres of water with a permanent pump and hose attached. This built in water tank will be of benefit in many ways to the Shire and the community. When the Shires Works & Services team are undertaking outside work on hot days that have a Total Fire Ban on, they can then be fully compliant at all times with DFES conditions by always having a minimum of 2,500 litres of water on standby in case of emergencies. Efficient time management and lower transport costs are another benefit through less equipment that is put on a trailer/towed to be transported out to a work site. With the water tank built in, the truck is still then able to be used to tow trailers to transport machinery and other equipment. This mobile water tank can also be used as another source of water for emergency fire fighting
The Shire has contracted a company called Draftek who are going to be undertaking the drafting and modelling design for us. The total project cost for this is approximately $24,000 with DWER contributing $16,800.
This project is expected to be completed by June 2025.
